It became obvious to Steve and I last Wednesday night that we evidently have a very bleak future as TV critics.
Looking for something on TV to fill the last hour before heading for bed we stumbled on KING CHARLES on CNN.
Seeing basketball icon Charles Barkley immediately grabbed Steve’s attention so we started watching this brand new show co-starring CBS personality Gayle King and NBA Hall of Famer Barkley.
After understanding KING CHARLES was a combination of their names versus a self pronouncement of the round ballers’ name we enjoyed a wide variety of interviews from folks like: Kory Hawkins star of the new movie adaptation of the Color Purple; Oprah promoting the movie; Barkley’s NBA TV’s side kick ErnieJohnson who was recently inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame; a story about the appropriate length of an engagement before getting married featuring Dion Sanders who after 15 years with a lady and 5 years engaged to her broke it off! And lastly an interesting story on the growth and merits of Sport’s Betting after which Ms. King asksher co-host Charles if he liked to gamble and after getting an affirmative answer ask what was the most he’d ever won? A slightly embarrassed Charles recovered and offered “Enough to pay for that outfit you are wearing.”
Steve thought it was a great answer. He also thought KING CHARLES was an excellent show and that we should share this with you, but……..
Later Steve started “googling” KING CHARLES and found out the show appears to be a bust garnering less that half a million viewers. It may even get cancelled!
We are inviting you to make up own mind as the show scheduled for nine o’clock tonight on CNN. We will be tuned in.
And with this edition of SOMETHING in the can let us wish you all Happy Holliday’s from Steve and Bobbi.
