An Emporia robbery suspect made his first appearance in Lyon County District Court Tuesday afternoon.
20-year-old Jaison Travelbee of Emporia was arrested Thursday evening and booked on a single charge of robbery with an alternate count of theft following an unarmed robbery in the 600 block of Sunnyslope around 4:30 pm that day. According to Emporia Police Captain Ray Mattas, Travelbee allegedly made off with around $100 in cash from an unnamed victim triggering an investigation by Emporia Police.
Officers would locate and arrest Travelbee in the 1100 block of Exchange around 9:30 pm that same evening. During his appearance in district court Tuesday, Judge Laura Miser appointed Rick Meier as Travelbee’s legal counsel and set a preliminary hearing for 10 am February 7 before Judge Doug Jones.
