Give something that means something.
That’s one of two mantras discussed on KVOE’s Morning Show on Friday by American Red Cross Central Plains spokesperson Susan Faler as she asked residents to donate blood. One way to do that, she says, is by making donations a group effort or a family matter.
The other mantra: more in ’24. And Faler says the need for blood remains urgent to critical nationwide.
There are two drives in Emporia for the first half of January — one Jan. 4-5 at the Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus and another Jan. 10 at Flinthills Mall. Other drives include:
*Jan. 5, Olpe High
*Jan. 7, Lebo High
*Jan. 15, Saint Marks Lutheran Church
If you donate, Faler asks that you’re healthy and well prepared, including proper hydration and good iron levels.
Residents wanting to donate blood can call 800-RED-CROSS or go online to redcrossblood.org to set appointments or to get information about upcoming blood drives.
