Judging from the business’ answering machine, one of Emporia’s most popular restaurants is closed for good.
Shanghai Chinese Restaurant says it is permanently closed. No reason was given.
The answering machine thanks customers for their support and wishes them a great year.
The building at 2002 West Sixth was erected in 1970 as a restaurant. In 2016, the property and another nearby was listed for an estate sale to settle the Kenneth Thomas estate. Restaurant owner Frank Lu purchased the restaurant property later that year.
