It was an Olpe sweep in the in-district showdown with Hartford Friday night in the Area Game of the Week.
The Olpe Lady Eagles improved to 7-1 with a 44-31 victory over Hartford, overcoming injuries to Kadey Robert and Milly Bailey in the second half.
When the injuries occurred Hartford was able to trim a double-digit Olpe lead down to 9 but Lily Skalsky stepped up, scoring 10 straight points, behind a game high 16 points. Olpe girls coach Ron Slaymaker said it was an ugly win.
Hartford was led by Trinity Windle with 15.
Hot shooting from the perimeter pushed Olpe to victory 73-29, advancing to 7-1 on the season.
Ethan Redeker connected on eight three-pointers behind a game high 28. Olpe coach Chris Schmidt talked about his senior.
Kennan Renfrow led Hartford with 9.
Olpe will continue their season against Waverly, while Hartford matches up with Burlingame on Tuesday.
Only one other doubleheader was played last night which was MdCV at Waverly.
Games postponed from last night with rescheduled dates include Topeka High at Emporia High will be Jan. 30. Chase County at Lyndon will be on Thursday. Madison at Burlingame will be on January 18. Osage City at Council Grove will be on Feb. 1. Northern Heights and Central Heights does not have a makeup date.
