An Emporia man is lucky to be alive after a crash on the Kansas Turnpike near El Dorado on Wednesday morning.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 20-year-old Gilberto Aguilera was southbound almost 50 miles southwest of Emporia and was passing a semi when the crash happened around 10:30 am. Aguilera’s car swerved right and hit the semi. Troopers say the Aguilera car got wedged under the semi trailer and was dragged for a short distance.
Aguilera suffered possible injuries and is not listed as going to a hospital. The semi driver, 44-year-old Scott Zachary of Hillsboro, was not hurt. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the wreck.
