With minimal court time during the last week, it was expected to see some rust this evening amongst Lebo and Madison.
In the girls game, both teams started slow with Lebo leading Madison 16-9 at the end of the first quarter. The lead would be extended to 26-15 at the half.
Audrey Peak caught fire in the third quarter, scoring 15 of her game-high 23 points that proved to be too much for Madison. Lebo would go on win 52-32, improving to 7-1. Lebo assistant coach Jamie Moore said there were things the Lady Wolves learned from playing their first game of 2024.
Saige Hadley added 22 points for Lebo. Madison was led by Jaylynn Weakley led Madison (5-2) with 9.
In the boys contest, both teams came out red hot. Madison had the upper hand in the first half, leading 32-28 at the break, as Colton Isch hit four first-half threes. Madison was forced to double-team Zach Oswald in the post created space for Grayson Shoemaker to go to work. Shoemaker scored 13 in the quarter and push Lebo out front, a lead they would not relinquish. Lebo boys coach Dennis Becker said his team played well.
Shoemaker would finish with 22 in the 67-54 victory.
Drew Konrade, Dominic Risner, and Oswald also scored in double figures for Lebo, which improved to 5-3. Madison’s record now sits at 5-2, and they were led in scoring by Isch at 17. Lebo matches up with Burlingame tomorrow.
Madison will be featured again on the area game of the week, as they travel to Olpe.
