The dirt may be tough to move Tuesday — in fact, jackhammers may be more effective than shovels — but Coffey County officials have scheduled a public groundbreaking for the county’s new law enforcement center that morning.
Activities will start at 11:45 am at the current Sheriff’s Office, 605 Neosho.
Back in August 2022, voters approved a $20 million center that will include space for almost 100 beds, as well as the sheriff’s office, dispatch center and county attorney’s office.
Air temperatures may be in the single digits when the ceremony begins.
