The Emporia State University Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion has some inspiring events coming up this week in honor of the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King JR.
The MLK Day activities will take place on Wednesday and are open to both the ESU campus and the Emporia community. Office Director Percy Holt says the main event will be an MLK commemoration dinner inside of the Memorial Union Skyline Room Wednesday night from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Holt says residents, students and staff alike are welcome for the evening which will include a meal followed by a dialogue time amongst attendees.
Before Wednesday’s dinner, the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion will have a table set up in the Memorial Union from 10:30 am to 2 pm where individuals are invited to stop by and jot down some of their dreams and aspirations for their lives and the campus community alike.
While speaking with KVOE Monday morning, Holt stated the importance of keeping MLK Day and Dr. King’s message fresh in all residents’ minds.
