Martin Luther King Jr had a dream. What’s yours?
That was the theme of events at Emporia State University on Wednesday.
Interim Director of Diversity Student Operations Percy Holt had a tabling event encouraging students to list and detail their dreams. Part of that was so students and others on campus had visual reminders of their goals and objectives. Part of that was also to gauge what changes could happen at Emporia State.
The tabling event was followed by a dinner and small-group discussions.
There will be another community celebration honoring Dr King this weekend as the Eastside Community Group holds an event at First United Methodist Church. When it comes to King’s message, organizer Al Slappy says it’s important for people to “remain committed to the change.”
The event starts at 6 pm. Slappy and A’Kena LongBenton will be the featured speakers. There will be refreshments and snacks, but there will not be a march to the church Sunday evening.
