Fire northwest of Emporia damaged a barn and a pickup truck late Thursday afternoon.
Emporia and Americus fire crews were called to 469 Road 190 just before 5 pm after a report of a structure fire. Emporia Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says there was moderate smoke coming from the front of the barn as crews arrived. Firefighters quickly got the fire under control, but not before there was moderate damage to the barn’s interior and unspecified damage to the truck.
Fuller says there was little impact on the barn’s actual structure from the fire, but there was smoke damage throughout the building.
Nobody was hurt. A cause is under investigation.
4 Rivers staff also came to the scene to handle electricity matters.
