Fifth Judicial District Community Corrections and two area law enforcement departments will benefit from a federal grantdesigned to enhance support services for crime victims.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says Community Corrections will get almost $37,000 through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program. The Coffey County Sheriff’s Office will get over $60,000, while the Council Grove Police Department will get over $9,000.
Besides helping with support services, the funding is also earmarked for strengthening crime prevention, handling equipment or technology issues and bolstering mental health services.
Nearly 30 agencies across Kansas are sharing more than $2.3 million with this round of JAG funding.
