For the second time in a week, Emporia Fire responded to a small fire near Guion’s Showcase.
Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage tells KVOE News firefighters were toned out to 2023 West Sixth just before midnight and found a small fire involving Moore’s Greenhouse near the northwest corner of the store and showroom. The fire was quickly extinguished.
Firefighters went to Guion’s shortly before 10:30 pm Jan. 17 for a similar fire at Moore’s Greenhouse. There was damage to the greenhouse but nothing reported to Guion’s Showcase with that incident.
Both fires remain under investigation at this time, and Emporia Fire is investigating security camera footage from nearby businesses as part of their process.
Emporia Fire also dealt with a cooking fire that developed at the Four Seasons apartment complex earlier Monday evening. Steinlage says the apartment building was briefly evacuated due to smoke, but there was little in the way of actual fire.
