Emporia firefighters know where Monday night’s fire at Moore’s Greenhouse started, but they are still investigating as to how it started.
Here’s Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage:
Fire crews went to Moore’s Greenhouse near Guion’s Showcase just before midnight Monday night. The fire damaged the greenhouse. It also caused exterior damage to the Guion’s Showcase building but did not extend inside and Steinlage says there was no danger of that fire getting inside.
The greenhouse was already damaged by a separate late-night fire Jan. 17, so there was more damage reported there. There was no damage reported to Guion’s after the Jan. 17 fire.
Steinlage declined to comment on whether either or both fires are suspicious. The Emporia Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation.
