The Humane Society of the Flint Hills has several focuses in mind when upgrading the Emporia Animal Shelter after the building withstood the arctic cold that passed through the area recently.
According to Humane Society of the Flint Hills Director Stephanie Achille on KVOE’s Morning Show this past Wednesday, the Emporia Animal Shelter struggled at times during the recent cold snap. She says one of the major struggles was with the shelter’s heating system which she says experienced several issues.
With the arctic conditions in the rearview, Achille says they are beginning to turn their attention to the rest of the calendar year and needed updates.
Achille adds that the need for more space remains a large focus with the shelter still at capacity housing around 60 animals. For questions or more information on the Humane Society of the Flint Hills or Emporia Animal Shelter, find them on Facebook or call 620-342-4477.
