The Emporia High boys basketball team dropped its first league game at Junction City Thursday night, 46-41.
Emporia High led 13-9 at the end of the first quarter before Junction City took control leading 24-21 at the break. The Spartans were outscored 11-5 in the third quarter with Junction City holding a 35-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Emporia High pulled within four late but not any closer.
River Peters led the way for Emporia High with 15 points.
Emporia High is now 7-4 on the season, 1-1 in the Centennial League. The Spartans will play Manhattan in a make-up game from Tuesday at 6 p.m. Saturday at Emporia High. The RV-Doc Pregame Show will start at 5:45 p.m. on KVOE.
