The Emporia State indoor track and field team picked up four wins at the Wilson Invitational at the Heskett Center at Wichita State on Saturday. All-American shot putter Travis Morrison won the event with a throw of 57 feet-1 inch to win the event by nearly six feet. His teammate Zach Sulzen-Watson finished second. Tyler Swift won the mile race in a time of 4:22.05 and also claimed victory in the men’s 1000m. Isaac Tarango won the men’s 200m. Mele Taula threw a provisional qualifying mark of 46 feet-4.75 inches in the shot put to finish second. The Hornets finished third in six events with Madeline Martin finishing third in the women’s 800m, Catherine Lyon finishing third in the women’s mile, Clarice Nichols finished third in the women’s long jump, Andrew Holton was third in the 400m, Aaron Hunt was third in the pole vault, and the Hornets finished third in the 4x400m relay. ESU returns to action Friday at the WU Open in Topeka.
