KVOE’s longstanding partnership with the Emporia Recreation Commission led to the radio station picking up a special award this week.
Emporia’s Radio Stations Inc was honored with the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association’s Distinguished Public Service award at the KRPA annual convention in Wichita. Rec Commission Director Tom McEvoy says KVOE was a deserving recipient.
KVOE General Manager Ron Thomas says the award came as a complete surprise to him when he was told it was coming several weeks ago.
Both McEvoy and Thomas praised the dedication, drive, professionalism and knowledge of the Rec Commission staff.
KRPA recognizes “individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to their agencies, communities and the Association through their involvement with the parks and recreation industry.”
