An arrest warrant has been activated in Colorado for an Emporia man accused of murdering two Emporia women.
Colorado Bureau of Investigation Department of Public Safety Chief of Staff Susan Medina says the warrant is filed for Phillip Lieurance in connection to the alleged double homicide of 44-year-old Linda Estrada and 39-year-old Amy Ford, both of Emporia.
Serving the warrant and bringing Lieurance to Colorado to start the court process is pending because Lieurance is in prison in Kansas after sentencing last month on Lyon County aggravated battery charges. Medina says Colorado officials are “working to navigate the judicial processes between both states” at this time.
CBI agents are still investigating the case.
Estrada and Ford were separately listed as missing in early September, shortly before Lieurance was charged in Lyon County with aggravated battery after ramming his SUV into at least one other vehicle on the Kansas Turnpike near Emporia. The bodies of Estrada and Ford were found near Eads, Colorado, in late September.
Lieurance has been accused but not formally charged in Colorado with murder and other charges because he has not officially appeared before a judge due to court proceedings in Emporia. A Lyon County extradition case referencing charges of Class 2 murder, tampering with a deceased body and unlawfully leaving Colorado was recently dismissed at prosecutor request.
