It was quick work for the Emporia High girls basketball team in a makeup game against Junction City Saturday afternoon at Spartan Gymnasium.
After a historic win on Friday night over Washburn Rural, the Lady Spartans did not have a letdown as they led wire-to-wire in a 48-14 victory over the Lady Blue Jays.
Emporia High scored half of its points in the first quarter for a 24-7 lead after eight minutes and held the Blue Jays scoreless in the second for a 36-7 lead at halftime. The Lady Spartans outscored the Blue Jays 12-2 in the second half and had a running clock in the fourth quarter. Emporia High led by as many as 37 in the game.
Emporia High girls basketball coach Carolyn Dorsey said it was a team effort despite playing its second game in less than 24 hours.
Addie Kirmer led Emporia High with 15 points. All 14 Lady Spartans who suited up played with eight scoring.
Emporia High is now 13-1 on the season, 5-0 in the Centennial League. The Lady Spartans return to action on Tuesday at home against Hayden.
