The cause of a Thanksgiving fire in Emporia is officially undetermined.
The fire developed late Thanksgiving afternoon at 205 South Constitution. Emporia Fire Marshal Reason Bradford says the fire may have started in a bedroom. Extensive damage to the front third of the house, along with smoke and water damage throughout the house, were reported by firefighters at the scene.
Two people suffered “significant” burns and were taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment. Names have not been released. Emporia Fire says it can’t release other information due to federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations.
