If you have seen a plethora of potholes in Emporia recently, you aren’t alone.
Emporia Public Works Director Dean Grant says the combination of a rather notable freeze-thaw-freeze cycle, combined with repeated snow and ice treatment last month, has done a number on streets in certain spots.
Grant also says the potholes are “pretty scattered” across the city.
Public Works typically has at least two employees and often as many as four dedicated to pothole repair at a given time. There can be as many as six concentrating on potholes, but that would be if there are no other immediate projects underway.
Grant encouraged residents to report any potholes they see, and there are several ways to do so:
*Call Public Works directly at 620-340-6339.
*Email emporiainfo@emporiaks.gov.
*Visit emporiaks.gov and click on “Report a Concern” on the website home page.
*Message the city’s Facebook page, Facebook.com/EmporiaKS.
City Communications Manager Christine Torrens says the best approach is to call or email.
