Several noteworthy items are coming for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education on Wednesday.
Board members have an executive session for attorney consultation near the start of the meeting and before the consent agenda, where one of the items is a decision on proposed changes to the Flint Hills Special Education Cooperative’s Articles of Agreement.
As part of the regular session, the board will have a public hearing to possibly close the Kansas Avenue School building, followed by a vote to approve a motion to that end. Board members will also have further discussions on a memorandum of understanding to be part of the Emporia Recreation Commission’s steering committee for a possible new public recreation facility or an expanded one. Results of a district climate survey and a Capturing Kids’ Hearts report are also planned.
The meeting starts at 6 pm at Mary Herbert Education Center.
