Funeral services are coming soon for lifelong Emporian and longtime local attorney Rick Buck, who passed away last week.
Buck graduated Emporia High in 1971, followed by graduation from Emporia State in 1975 and Washburn’s School of Law in 1978. Buck’s legal career started in Abilene before he returned to Emporia, initially working as a trust officer at Admire Bank before opening his private practice in 1980. Buck joined the Lyon County Attorney’s Office under then-County Attorney Joe Lee in 1997 and continued under current County Attorney Marc Goodman until departing in 2013. Buck taught business law for a semester at Emporia State, later reopening his private practice through Stan Ausemus.
Buck was 71 years old when he passed away Tuesday. Services will be at 10 am Thursday at Emporia Presbyterian Church, with burial to follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Salvation Army of Emporia or Fellowship Meals.
