Preliminary hearings are coming next month following an Emporia Police investigation into “multiple cases involving narcotics, firearms, forgery, shoplifting, theft and identity theft.”
Deshawn Hammond, age 27 of Wichita, has a preliminary hearing March 4. He will have a review hearing Feb. 28.
Kayla Stokes, age 33 of Wichita, does not have a review hearing scheduled, but she has a prelim March 4.
Both were arrested earlier this month and charged with possession of methamphetamine, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use and theft. Stokes is also charged with interfering with law enforcement.
Meanwhile, Alexander Rose — who was arrested separately after an alleged standoff with local law enforcement — has also been charged with possession of meth and paraphernalia, as well as forgery and theft. His preliminary hearing is also March 4.
Documents posted to the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal do not offer any more details about the alleged crimes.
