Emporia Fire says it took three people to Newman Regional Health for treatment after a crash on the Kansas Turnpike near the Emporia gate Tuesday evening.
The wreck happened just after 6:30 pm just southwest of the Emporia gate. The Kansas Highway Patrol says two vehicles were involved, a car driven by 72-year-old Hai Ly and a car driven by 29-year-old Tresia Spencer, both of Wichita. Troopers say Ly’s car was stopped in a lane to check GPS. Because the other lane was occupied, Spencer’s car had no place to go and hit Ly’s car.
The crash log only lists Spencer as going to the hospital, but she also had two juveniles in the car and the Highway Patrol now lists their records as “juvenile protected data.” Spencer had suspected minor injuries. Emporia Fire says all three transported to Newman Regional had non-life-threatening injuries.
Neither Ly nor a passenger, 67-year-old Kim Tran of Wichita, were hospitalized.
