Visit Emporia has announced the latest recipients of its Tourism Grants and Meeting/Event Incentives.
Eight groups received funding. Awards range from $300 to $3,500:
*Christian Youth Rodeo Association for Christian Youth Rodeo Association: $2,500
*Discover Gravel for Flint Hills Gravel Ride and Run: $1,500
*Emporia Flatland Cruisers for Emporia Flatland Cruisers 30th Annual Car Show: $300
*Emporia Freedom Fest Committee for Emporia Freedom Fest: $3,500
*Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow for Cinco de Mayo: $1,500
*Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow for Dia de los Muertos: $1,000
*National Teachers Hall of Fame for National Teachers Hall of Fame Induction: $1,000
*Shrine Bowl of Kansas for Kansas Shrine Bowl All-Star Friday Night Showcase: $3,000
*Sunflower Gymnastics for Sunflower Winter Invitational: $1,000
Funding helps initiatives connected to new marketing plans, events or attractions. They can also fund first-time adjustments to existing activities. The grants are funded through the city’s transient guest tax. Over $15,000 was distributed.
