Two Emporia High boys swim relays earned second swims after the prelims of the Class 5-1A State Swim Championships Friday morning in Topeka.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Shane Anderson, Ian Navarro, Tyler Luthi and Logan Woydziak finished 16th in prelims with a time of 1:38.7 to earn a second swim. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Anderson, Broden Podrebarac, Luthi and Woydziak cut 3.5 seconds and finished 13th with a time of 3:40.91.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Podrebarac, Anderson, Luthi and Navarro finished 20th and moved up one spot from their seed time. Woydziak finished 18th in the 50-yard freestyle. He’s the second alternate if two swimmers have to drop out of the event.
Both relays will join Alex Allemang, who will dive three more times on Saturday morning on the final day of the meet. Allemang is eighth heading into his final three dives. Diving will begin at 9 a.m. with swim events to follow at Capitol Federal Natatorium in Topeka.
