Charges have been filed against individuals arrested in connection to the deadly shooting in Kansas City Wednesday.
According to ABC News, two juvenile suspects are in custody at the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center on undisclosed gun charges and resisting arrest. It was reported Wednesday that three individuals had been detained, however, the third individual, also a juvenile, was determined not to be involved in the shooting and has since been released.
The shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon after the Kansas City Chief’s Super Bowl parade. 22 people were injured and 44-year-old KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan was killed in the incident.
According to the aforementioned ABC News report, Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City said it received 11 children with injuries ranging in age from six to 15 years old. The names of the victims, aside from Lopez-Galvan, and the suspects have not been released.
Fundraising efforts are stepping up. 7:30 am Friday: Several patients released, juveniles remain detained
Several children have been released from medical care after Wednesday’s mass shooting incident at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl rally.
Children’s Mercy says six of the nine children suffering gunshot wounds have been discharged and the rest should recover. University Health Truman Medical Center have said two gunshot victims are improving but remain in critical condition. St. Luke’s did not provide an update Thursday.
At a news conference Thursday morning, Kansas City, Missouri, Police Chief Stacey Graves confirmed the death of KKFI Radio DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, currently the only person killed in the shooting. Twenty-two others were hurt, ranging in age from eight to 47. Half of the victims were under age 16.
Three people were initially detained.
The juveniles remain detained at last word. Their names have not been divulged and word on formal charges is still pending.
Kansas City Police continue working with state and federal law enforcement and legal agencies as their investigation continues.
