The official detour has been announced for the Interstate 35 bridge replacement project over Lincoln Street.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has traffic using Coronado from Lincoln to Prairie on the north side of Interstate 35 and West 24th from Lincoln to Prairie on the south side.
Officially, construction begins Feb. 28 if weather conditions permit. Besides closing Lincoln Street at the bridge for the duration of the project, possibly through August 2025, this will also lead to temporary crossover lanes between northbound and southbound I-35. The inside lanes will be closed until April, with southbound lanes closing altogether and northbound lanes then open for one-lane, head-to-head traffic until further notice.
KDOT awarded the $4.3 million project to King Construction of Hesston.
