After months of planning and a spate of recent meetings locally, work is set to begin soon on a major road improvement project just west of Emporia.
Work is set to begin March 11 on the Road F paving project between US Highway 50 and Road 180.
The project has gained recent attention from Emporia city commissioners, the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas and Emporia Enterprises because of what it signifies for Emporia’s Industrial Park IV, essentially moving the park closer to shovel-ready status as the city markets the property for development. This also follows work on Road 180 just west of Americus Road, or Road G, in preparation for Evergy’s regional service center that went online last year.
Road F work could end as soon as Oct. 3, weather permitting. Road F will be closed between US-50 and Road 180 for the duration of the project.
