Formal charges are pending after a speeding arrest led to evidence of a marijuana grow operation involving a father and son now living in different states.
The Chase County Sheriff’s Office says the traffic stop happened Thursday on US Highway 50 just west of Strong City. Deputies found around 10 pounds of marijuana, along with marijuana grow materials, chemicals used to process marijuana for oil and an unspecified number of firearms.
The driver, 47-year-old Seth Kindt of Inglis, Florida, was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, possession with intent to manufacture or cultivate, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of weapons.
The passenger, 75-year-old Duff Kindt of Stout, Ohio, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to manufacture or cultivate and possession of paraphernalia. Chase County Sheriff Jacob Welsh confirmed the family relationship in a follow-up interview with KVOE News.
