Advanced mail ballots are headed out to voters wanting to use that method to take part in the Presidential Preference Primary on March 19.
This follows last week’s deadline for voters to register for the election or change registration information, and it begins a busy period leading up to the special election. In-office voting begins Monday, with Lyon County’s now-traditional offsite voting event March 9 at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building. In-office advance voting ends at noon March 18.
This is the first Presidential Preference Primary for Kansas since 1992 and just the third in state history, with the first one taking place in 1980. Both Democratic and Republican parties will have closed primaries, meaning unaffiliated voters wanting to take part would need to choose a party affiliation before voting.
Candidates on the ballot:
Democrats
*Joseph R Biden Jr
*Jason Michael Palmer
*Dean Phillips
*Marianne Williamson
Republicans
*Ryan L Binkley
*Ron DeSantis
*Nikki Haley
*Donald J Trump
