Formal charges and a preliminary hearing date are now on the docket for one of two people allegedly involved in a high-speed chase from Strong City to Emporia earlier this week.
Chase County Attorney William Halvorsen has formally charged Fareed Adnan Hudeib with single counts of felony flee and elude, driving without a valid license, driving without insurance and speeding. A preliminary hearing is tentatively set for March 15 in Cottonwood Falls.
Word on potential charges against Hudeib’s passenger, Brandy Nichole Rye, is currently pending.
Hudeib allegedly fled from a Chase County deputy after a traffic stop on US Highway 50 outside Strong City on Tuesday and drove east at a high rate of speed into Emporia. Chase County Sheriff Jacob Welsh says Hudeib and Rye ditched their vehicle at Ninth and Lakeview and fled on foot, only to be discovered in a garage in the 900 block of Lakeview later that morning.
