Lyon County’s Emergency Food and Shelter Board has received almost $11,000 in federal Homeland Security grant funds.
United Way of the Flint Hills Community Impact Manager Hannah Crowl says the funds are designed to “help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country.” Disbursements will now be determined by a local board including representatives of the American Red Cross, Catholic Charities, a representative of the Lyon County Commission, Salvation Army and United Way.
Agencies, public and private, can apply for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds by calling Crowl at 620-34-27564 or by emailing hannah@uwfh.org by March 20.
