We’re one step closer to the state’s first Presidential Preference Primary in over 30 years.
Advance voting by mail started last week and begins Monday in county courthouses across the state. The candidates on the ballot are as follows:
Democrats
*Joseph R Biden Jr
*Jason Michael Palmer
*Dean Phillips
*Marianne Williamson
Republicans
*Ryan L Binkley
*Ron DeSantis
*Nikki Haley
*Donald J Trump
Meanwhile, Lyon County has its offsite voter event from 9 am to 1 pm Saturday at the Lyon County Extension office, not the Fairgrounds Anderson Building, after a scheduling conflict was discovered. Lyon County Election Officer Tammy Vopat will update the advance voting process and discuss Saturday’s offsite voting event on KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment at 8:20 am Tuesday.
Both Democratic and Republican parties will have closed primaries, meaning unaffiliated voters wanting to take part would need to choose a party affiliation before voting.
This is the first Presidential Preference Primary for Kansas since 1992 and just the third in state history, with the first one taking place in 1980.
