Several area airports are benefiting from the most recent round of funding through the Kansas Airport Improvement Program.
The Emporia Municipal Airport got $900,000 total. All of it is for apron design and construction so the airport can handle larger aircraft, a long-mentioned economic development goal for the city and area.
Meanwhile, Coffey County Airport in Burlington gets nearly $94,000 for a hangar door replacement. Osage City Municipal Airport got $50,000 as the state’s match for a pavement rehab and airfield lighting project.
This round of KAIP funds benefits nearly 60 projects at 37 airports. Over $14 million is being distributed. Emporia Public Works Director Dean Grant will appear on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:25 am Friday with more information.
