An Emporia child sex abuse case may go to trial this summer.
The case is against Antoine Moliere, currently facing one count of rape against a maximum five-year-old child after alleged activity between February and April last year. He’s also accused of an alternate count of aggravated indecent liberties against the same child for alleged activity in December.
At a pretrial hearing Friday, Judge Jeff Larson set potential trial start date of July 15 after a status hearing July 10. He also set a bond modification hearing for March 21 as defense attorney Rick Meier has cited limited income and health issues for reasons Moliere can’t post the $150,000 bond in the case.
Prosecutors, meanwhile, have asked Larson for a prime trial setting or firm start date, due to the nature of the charges. They have also asked for reciprocal discovery and an order in limine barring improper statements during trial.
