The latest visibility project for Lyon County Area Transportation is nearly complete.
New pickup and dropoff signs have been getting erected for about a week now, and LCAT Director Shane Brunner says this is a notable change from the longstanding signs.
Green signs indicate scheduled stops, while blue signs indicate locations where people can stand and call for a demand pickup or delivery without the bus making stops of up to five minutes waiting for riders.
This follows the changeover in wraps back in spring 2022.
Separately, Brunner says he’s pleased with the ongoing shift from route buses to demand service, as evidenced at the start of the year when LCAT went from two routes to one and a demand bus — and also after the Saturday route bus was changed to a demand bus. Brunner says ridership isn’t where he would like to see it, but ridership is still around 2,500 people a month and numbers for January and February were occasionally impacted by rough winter weather.
