The No. 10 seed Kansas State men’s basketball team eliminated No. 7 seed Texas 78-74 in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on Wednesday. The Wildcats trailed 39-29 at the break after shooting just 38% from the field in the first half while Texas hit 57% of its shots. The teams flipped roles in the second half with Kansas State shooting 55% in the second frame and the Longhorns cooling off to just 29% shooting. The ‘Cats opened the second period on a 7-0 run and Texas had their last lead with just over 12 minutes to play. The ‘Horns got as close as two with less than a minute to go, but the Cats went 6-for-6 at the line down the stretch to secure the win. Tylor Perry led five Wildcats in double figures with 21 points while shooting 10-for-10 at the free throw line. Arthur Kaluma added 14 points and a game high 8 rebounds.
