It’s all systems go for Emporia’s St. Patrick’s parade Saturday afternoon.
The parade begins at 1 pm at Fourth and Commercial and will move north to 12th. On KVOE’s Morning Show on Thursday, organizer Barb Lowery said there is a long list of participants but there is room for more. She also says it is time to recognize 30 years of community fundraising, so a big public push towards raising money hasn’t been part of this year’s planning.
As far as activities go, the Kansas City St. Andrew’s Pipes and Drums will be the featured performer during the parade — and afterward as well. They will at Fourth and Commercial for a roughly 30-minute performance.
A lot more is coming in downtown Emporia as well, including the Emporia Main Street Spring Fling shopping event between 10 am and 1 pm, Town Royal’s beer garden and Downtown Emporia Bar Association’s seventh annual St. Patrick’s pub crawl.
When it comes to community impact, the St. Patrick’s Committee has now raised $390,000 for over 180 community groups.
To register a group for the parade, find the application on the St. Patrick’s Committee Facebook page or KVOE.com.
