The No. 12 Wichita State men’s basketball team allowed an 11-0 run late by No. 4 Alabama-Birmingham and couldn’t recover in a 72-60 defeat in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday. Wichita State trailed 33-31 at the half and led 54-52 with less than eight minutes to go before a five point trip down the floor keyed the big run for UAB and the Blazers never led by less than seven the rest of the way. Xavier Bell and Harlond Beverly each paced the Shockers with 14 points. The Shocker season ends at 15-19.
