The Emporia State distance runners opened the outdoor season at the University of Saint Mary Distance Festival Friday in Leavenworth, Kan. Henry Jones had the top time for the Hornets in the men’s 5000m run. Jones finished sixth with a personal best time of 15:03.64. For the Lady Hornets, Catherine Lyon finished 14th with a 19:04.46 in the women’s 5000m run. The rest of the team will begin their season at the FHSU Spring Invite next Friday, March 22 at the FHSU Spring Invite. Events start at 12:00 p.m.
