Growth across the board was the theme for Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness through the 2023 calendar year.
That’s according to Crosswinds CEO Amanda Cunningham who presented the agency’s annual review to Lyon County Commissioners as part of their regular action meeting Thursday morning. Cunningham tells KVOE News throughout 2023, Crosswinds saw a 24 percent increase in staffing and the agency’s lowest turnover rate in nearly a decade.
Cunningham also touched on the growth of Crosswinds services and says the agency’s increases in these various areas can be attributed to both a change in care model and various grant allocations at the state and federal levels.
For 2024, Cunningham says Crosswinds has several focuses including maintaining its staffing, continuing to expand its services to the local area and maintaining its many partnerships with other local healthcare entities.
In other business Thursday, county commissioners approved a pair of requests from County Engineer Chip Woods including a roughly $108,000 bid from APAC-Holiday Sand and Stone for what’s called CM-K cover material and a nearly $22,000 quote from Subsurface Inc to buy extensions lining four culverts along Americus Road. Commissioners later approved the purchase of six new pickups for the Sheriff’s Office from Longbine Auto Plaza for more than $300,000.
Facilities Director Robbie Weiss also submitted a purchase request of more than $5,200 for a new copier from Century Business Technologies and by County Appraiser Ryan Janzen submitted a $6,400 professional services agreement with Schneider Geospatial.
Commissioners approved both requests unanimously.
Human Resources Director Alicia Rumold also reviewed the county’s worker’s compensation premium audit as well as certain worker’s compensation, vacation and employee assistance policies.
The Lyon County Commission will reconvene for its regular action meeting next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
