The Southern Lyon County baseball opened the season with a pair of wins over the Lebo-Waverly Wolfdogs Thursday in Olpe.
Southern Lyon County took the opener, 12-2, in six innings, and took the finale, 14-4, in five innings.
In game one, Southern Lyon County held a 3-0 lead through three before the Wolfdogs scored two in the fourth. After that, Southern Lyon County put up seven in the fifth and added two in the sixth. Brayden Fowler was 2-for-2 at the plate. Logan Hammond went four innings allowing two runs and four hits while striking out nine. Ashton Lattimer had two hits in the loss for the Wolfdogs. Eli Hauff allowed three runs on three hits and two strikeouts in two innings.
In game two, the game was tied at 2 after one before Southern Lyon County got four each in the second and third innings. Lebo-Waverly scored one apiece in the fourth and fifth innings before Southern Lyon County got four more in the fifth for the run-rule victory. Fowler was 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs. Logan Hammond drove in four. Ethan Redeker went four innings allowing three runs and two hits and had six strikeouts. Reese drove in two for the Wolfdogs in the loss and went 2 1/3 innings allowing eight runs on 10 hits and two strikeouts.
