Flint Hills Technical College is in the process of telling its story to a regional and possibly a national audience in the near future.
The school was a focus of a recent feature by Viewpoint Project, hosted by noted actor, director and producer Dennis Quaid. The project creates documentaries on a range of issues and topics with the goal of making “meaningful documentaries that inspire audiences to take action.”
On KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment on Wednesday, Flint Hills Technical College President Caron Daughtery says a big reason why Viewpoint reached out was because of the partnerships and the number of folks that were involved when Coffey County’s CHIPS and Science Act semiconductor project announcement was made in Feburary of 2023.
Daughtery says the college wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to branch out regionally and potentially even nationally to be able to tell its story.
Director of Marketing and Social Media Deon Morrow says the college is off to a great start with what Viewpoint is doing moving forward. Morrow says there will be 50 airings of regional commercials along with them being featured on news networks during peak and primetime spots.
According to Morrow, Flint Hills Technical College’s spots will be seen on 170 participating stations across the United States.
The Flint Hills Technical College documentary focuses on the college’s Health and Human Services, Arts and Information Technology, Industry Technology and general education programs. From the college’s perspective, the documentary highlights the “transformative role of technical education in shaping the region’s workforce.”
