The Emporia High softball team was swept by Junction City Friday night at Peter Pan Park.
Junction City won the opener, 5-0, before taking the finale, 16-3, in six innings.
Emporia High was held to two hits in the first game while Junction City scored one each in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings while scoring two in the second. Alivia Anno took the loss in the circle, going the distance allowing six runs on 15 hits and seven strikeouts.
In game two, Junction City scored two in the first and three in the second before Emporia High got on the board in the bottom of the second on a bases loaded walk by Yzabel Ultreras. The Lady Spartans got two in the third with Addie Kirmer stealing home and an RBI groundout by Ryane Howe. Junction City responded with two in the fourth, three in the fifth and six in the sixth for the win. Kirmer went 3-for-3 at the plate. Anno went five innings allowing 14 runs on 21 hits and two strikeouts.
Emporia High coach Tommy McClure said there’s still some things to continue to develop.
Emporia High is now 2-6, 0-4 in Centennial League play. The Lady Spartans are off until April 16 when they travel to McPherson for a quad that features the Bullpups, Derby and Louisburg.
