ESU thrower Mele Taula is the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week after two strong performances at the David Suenram Gorilla Classic last week. The freshman had two provisional qualifiers and set a school record by winning the javelin last weekend in Pittsburg while also winning the shot put. Taula is third in the country in the javelin while ranking eighth in the shot put. ESU is back at home on Thursday hosting the Midwest Classic. The competition has been condensed to a two-day event at Welch Stadium due to high winds in the forecast for Saturday.
