The Emporia State track and field team wrapped up competition at the 101st Kansas Relays on Saturday. The men’s 4x100m relay team finished second with a provisional qualifying mark of 40.80. Ty Anderson was third in the 100m for the Hornets. Jake Johnson was third in the 400m hurdles while Travis Morrison finished third in the shot put. Ashley Wildeman was third in the women’s 100m dash. Mele Taula had a PR in the shot put throwing 49 feet-3.5 inches for the third-best throw in program history. As a team, the Hornets had eight provisional qualifiers for the NCAA Division II National Championships to be held at Welch Stadium in May. ESU returns to Lawrence next weekend for the Rock Chalk Classic.
