Para tu Salud is returning to Emporia this summer.
Organized by Emporia Spanish Speakers, the free Spanish-language community fair will be July 13 at Riverside Elementary, with representatives of area organizations and businesses offering information about programs and services. Preventive health screenings will be available, along with kid-friendly games through the Emporia Recreation Commission and at least one food truck.
Potential vendors can register and get more information online at emporiaspanishspeakers.com.
As Emporia Spanish Speakers prepares for Para tu Salud, it has also welcomed Luisana Chaida Veliz as its Community Outreach Specialist. Veliz is a native of Caripe, Venezuela, and moved to Emporia in 2022. She has a petroleum engineering degree and partners with her husband on several business ventures, according to Emporia Spanish Speakers founder LeLan Dains.
The work of Emporia Spanish Speakers and the hire of Veliz will be the focus of KVOE’s Talk of Emporia at 11:06 am Monday.
